June 2021 Update

The Elder Team, along with consultation from other leaders, have discussed and prayed about the project numerous times over the past 15 months - what we are building and why.  In addition to the many reasons already outlined here, this pandemic presented us with the new risk of operational instability. The precariousness of not having a facility that we can execute core ministry out of and under our control presents a genuine risk of not being able to minister effectively into the future.

So first, we want to confirm that a building is a necessary component in fulfilling our mission. It is therefore not a question of if but when.

Second, although we welcome continued giving, we think it is wise to launch a new and fresh campaign once we are in the rhythm of gathering again. We would estimate a new campaign to happen sometime in the first half of 2022.

To avoid confusion, we are not promoting pledging at this time and are instead asking everyone to pray, reset, and be ready to commit when we fire up again.

For the approximately 600 families that did pledge in early 2020, we welcome continued giving, but there is no expectation or obligation to deliver on the commitments made. This will allow flexibility if your financial situation has been negatively impacted during the pandemic and/or will also allow a fresh start with a new pledge when the new campaign formally fires up.

As of May 2021, we have approximately $3.9M in the fund, allowing us to continue with the ongoing detailed design and drawings. This will get us to the permit submission stage, so we will be ready to start excavation once we have the pathway laid out to the necessary financial resources in place (via pledges). We are projecting we will know this once we complete the campaign sometime mid-2022.

We are in an unprecedented situation of having a campaign interrupted at its launch by a global pandemic.  None of this is a surprise to God. He is in total control, and we are confident he has allowed what feels like an interruption for specific and important reasons - and for ultimate good.

Please continue to pray for wisdom and discernment as we navigate the restart of gathering physically again and then into the timing of a fresh start to raise the necessary resources to fund this critical project.
